Caliper reads a few optional product metafields so the product page can show technical data without an app. All names are theme settings and can be changed.

Specifications
Each value is one row: Thickness | 17.2 mm. Rows appear in a monospaced table in the order you enter them. The same rows feed the compare table, so keep labels consistent across products in a category ("Thickness", not "Thickness (mm)" on one product and "Disc thickness" on another).
If a product has no metafield, the Specifications block falls back to the rows typed in the block settings, which is useful for a short catalog.
Cross reference (OEM and aftermarket numbers)
Each value is one part number. They show as chips; each chip links to a search for that number. Search indexes titles, SKUs, barcodes, tags and descriptions but not metafields, so add the same numbers as product tags to make them searchable. The demo catalog does this.
Documents
Upload PDFs in Content → Files, then pick them in the product's Documents metafield. The block shows the file type and name. Two extra links per block can be set in the editor for documents shared by many products (catalogs, warranty).
Exploded diagram
The Exploded diagram product block takes an image and a product list. Parts appear as a numbered legend with SKU, price and an Add button. Number the parts on the image to match the order in the list.
Variants and stock
- SKU is shown on cards (optional) and on the product page meta line.
- Stock badges use tracked inventory: a count when known, "In stock" otherwise.
- Variant swatches: set a color or image on the option value in Shopify (Settings → Custom data → Category metafields) and cards show dots.
Tags the theme reads
| Tag | Effect |
|---|---|
badge:New (any text after badge:) |
Shows that text as a badge on cards and the product page |
preorder |
Every available variant sells as Pre-order with the pre-order note |
Demo catalog
The demo stores were seeded with a public script; the catalog files in tools/demo-seed/catalog/ show the expected shape of each field.
